One of the much discussed topics these days in the telcom industry in India is the 3G spectrum. The auction of the 3G spectrm has been postponed several times. Now the DoT has come up with a number of options to deal with the problem.
One of the options is to go for the acution of 4 blocks of the spectrum that is 2×5 MHz in 2.1 GHz. One of the 4 blocks has already been used by BSNL/MTNL.
The second option is to auction the entire spectrum in blocks of 2×5 MHz.
The third suggestion tells to auction over 4 spectrum blocks but not the entire spectrum. But these spectrums should be given only to 4 operators.
There seems to be a lot of problems between DoT and TRAI in the auctioning of the 3G spectrum. All these differences of opinions have to be ironed out before the auction could take place.
